The year 2015 was great regarding my reading. I pledged to read 30 books, but ended up reading 115! I may have cheated with some manga, but it’s still personally a big number for me. Here are the top 10 books that I enjoyed:
10. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
My first John Green book and I liked it. Some of the lines were too good as quotes. I didn’t cry as much as I expected I would. There is just something off about this book that I can’t put my finger on. I will probably reread it before writing a review.
9. What If? by Randall Munroe
An interesting book that will teach you some science while entertaining you. The sketches and the writing style were awesome. I rated it 4/5.
8. What Is The Name of This Book? by Raymond M. Smullyan
A logical puzzle book that I loved. I’d highly recommend this to anyone interested in puzzles. My rating is 4/5.
7. Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto
This 72 volume mammoth of a manga took me a whole month to read. It was so much worth the time as I got inspired by the characters. Full review here. I rated many volumes 4/5 and a few 5/5. Overall, it definitely gets a 5/5 from me.
6. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
A must-read book for everyone. I don’t recall the word ‘Autism’ being mentioned anywhere, but the main character is supposed to be on the autistic spectrum. The book put me in the narrator’s shoes and gave me an understanding of how different and logical his thought process is. I rated it 5/5.
5. Hackers and Painters by Paul Graham
A collection of essays that are thought-provoking and insightful. Oh, and he makes nerds look super cool, so a big thumbs up from me. I recommend it to programmers and people interested in computer science. My rating is 4/5.
4. The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
A short story with a powerful message. I rated it 4/5 and would recommend it to everyone. Full review here.
3. Jaya by Devdutt Pattanaik
A retelling of Mahabharata with illustrations. It mentions the minor variations in the plot as told in different regions, as well as the author’s speculations. Reviewed in goodreads and rated it 4/5.
2. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
If you saw the movie and thought it’s just a good mystery/thriller, you should definitely read the book. The book is a psychological thriller that has more layers than the movie. A review for this book is long pending, but I’ll write one soon. My rating is 4/5
1. Quiet by Susan Cain
I loved this book because it made me realize that it’s okay to be an introvert. Yes, it has its drawbacks and that’s why I rate it 4/5, but it’s still my best read of 2015. Full review here.
Ah an amazing list..

Great list. I have the “Quiet” on my reading list for a while. I am an introvert by the way. Right now, I am reading “The Power of Now”. It’s quite exhilarating. You should take a look. 🙂
